Denver is a popular destination for outdoor adventures, and Cherry Creek is no exception. Located along a natural greenbelt that flows through downtown urban areas and historic neighborhoods, the 42-mile Cherry Creek Trail offers the perfect way to spend an afternoon outdoors. Enjoy a morning bike ride along Cherry Creek’s scenic 22-mile bike path, or visit nearby Washington Park where you can rent a paddleboat and explore Smith Lake, take advantage of multi-use trails, or even enjoy a picnic among the flowering gardens. Washington Park also features a recreation center with a playground, horseshoe pits, tennis, lawn bowling and a basketball court.
Cheeseman Park is another popular destination and offers expansive lawns, shady jogging trails, and a dramatic neoclassical pavilion that regularly hosts local events. Just east of the park, the 23-acre Denver Botanic Gardens is home to the largest collection of plants from cold temperate climates in North America. Stroll through formal gardens, including a traditional Japanese garden as well as a Dryland Mesa Xeriscape, and visit the historic farm and homestead. There is also a sunken amphitheater that hosts summer concerts.
If you left your bike or longboard at home, no worries – you can also borrow an item from our Gear Garage and start exploring.
